We know there’s more than just fly spray in your future to stay bug-free this season, but starting with pest protection on your pets is an important part of staying safe, and healthy.
Why Bug Repellent Is Important
No one enjoys finding fleas on their pet, pulling ticks off their dogs, cats, or horses, or battling flies around the barnyard when they swarm livestock and other animals. They are more than just a nuisance. Bugs also pose a health risk, carrying all types of diseases and increasing the potential for irritation and infection. That’s why a good bug repellent that covers multiple kinds of pests is an important part of your animal health care routine.
In addition to irritating bug bites, some insects carry dangerous diseases. Ticks carry a variety of diseases, such as Lyme disease, and the less commonly known Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, to name a few. Mosquitoes carry a host of infectious viruses, such as West Nile Virus and variations of encephalitis. Even fleas and biting flies carry with them the risk of infection, especially on already existing wounds or broken skin. What’s worse is that many of these risks can be carried by our animals over to humans, often as simply as by carrying the insect from their skin onto ours.
Ingredients Matter
Many insect repellent sprays contain harsh chemicals that can be almost as irritating to the skin as the risk posed by the insects themselves. DEET, a common ingredient in many bug sprays, is a very harsh chemical with the risk of side effects ranging from skin irritation and rashes to more serious reactions such as vomiting and shaking. While these risks and side effects vary between animal species and by individual, it is essential to Curicyn that all of our products are as safe as they are effective. That is why we do not use harmful ingredients in our BodyGuard formulation, and we are DEET-free.
Curicyn BodyGuard is a geraniol-based solution. Geraniol is a natural ingredient known for its sweet, rose-like aroma. It is a key component of various essential oils that are safe to use on animals, while also being effective at repelling flies, fleas, and ticks. Because it is a natural ingredient, it does not pose risks like many synthetic chemicals used to repel pests, and it allows BodyGuard to pose no risk to animals or humans. It doesn’t itch, burn, or sting, which makes it safe to spray even on irritated skin, and it helps protect open wounds or sores from further complications due to insects.

Our BodyGuard formula is free of harmful ingredients and safe to use on all animals.
Bug Bite Aftercare
Common bug bites can cause itching, irritated skin, rashes, and hives. Some animals stress in response to the discomfort and will rub and scratch the irritated skin, which may cause abrasions and scrapes, exacerbating the situation. As the old saying goes, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,“ but we know when it comes to animals, things don’t always go according to plan – just ask our Curicyn Crew!
