Adventures Across America with Curicyn
There’s nothing quite like packing up the car, hitting the open road, and heading to the great outdoors for a camping adventure. But what makes it even better? Bringing your beloved pets along for the ride! Camping with your furry companions can create unforgettable memories and deepen your bond. Whether you have a canine co-pilot, an adventurous feline, or even an equine partner, integrating them into your outdoor escapades requires a bit of planning, but the rewards are endless.
Choosing Your Adventure
There are a million camping locations across America, and each one offers a different adventure. When deciding where to go, there are a few things to consider.. What kind of pets are you traveling with? Make sure that whatever location you select is not only welcoming to your animals but is adequately set up to accommodate them. If you are traveling with horses, having corrals or shelter available means you don’t need to pack portable fencing or shelter for the trip.
Most campgrounds are dog and cat-friendly, but check the rules and regulations before you go. What paperwork and vaccinations are required? Do you need a health certificate from your veterinarian? When traveling across state lines, health documentation is typically required to be carried at all times. Schedule any necessary vet appointments in advance, and be prepared before you go. All of these things will help the trip go smoothly and your stay be a positive one for you and your pets.

Being prepared in advance means more time to enjoy your adventure with your pets!
What About the Weather?
Your camping setup may dictate the time of year in which you can travel. If you only have a tent, you may be limited in the colder months. If you have a camper or conversion van, traveling when temperatures slip below freezing may be just fine for you and your pets. And if you’re lucky enough to have a horse trailer with living quarters – a camper/horse trailer combination – then chances are you’ll be able to travel year-round to just about anywhere in the country.
Beyond your camping setup, transportation to and from your destination also matters, as does being aware of potential weather incidents while out in the wild. In some areas of the country, mountain passes are only accessible at certain times of year. Other areas may be prone to hurricanes or flooding. These are all criticalfactors to consider when planning your adventure. In the event of a severe weather warning, having a plan before you arrive is critical. Storms can appear without warning, and knowing what to do as soon as an alert is issued can save you and your animals’ lives.
While we don’t like to think our vacation might be interrupted bythe unexpected, Mother Nature is fickle and can change in an instant. Be sure to have reliable cell or radio service and do your research about your destination and corresponding coverage to avoid being left stranded or worse.
Packing the Essentials
When packing, be sure to include essentials like food and water, along with emergency kits for both you and your animals. While first-aid kits for humans are widely available at most pharmacies, they are not designed to address injuries or medical needs for pets.Chewy is a nationwide online retailer that carries first-aid kits for animals, including our Pet Care Kit, Equine Triage Kit, and Hoof Care Kit, making it easy to order everything at one time.
Be sure to bring your pet’s favorite travel bed and toys, and make sure they’re properly secured in the vehicle. Just like seat belts for people, pets need to be restrained by law in many areas and kept secure to protect them in case of an accident. If you are traveling with a dog or cat, a seat belt harness or pet carrier is safest while in motion. When traveling with horses, they will be on a trailer and ensuring they are safely tied with ample airflow for the journey is important. Carry fresh water in case you run into trouble and are stranded along the road for any amount of time. Once the packing is done, get ready to hit the road and remember to have fun!

Curicyn BodyGuard fly, flea, and tick repellent is a must-have for any outdoor adventure.
